Transgenic animal facility

The transgenic zone (480 m2), located on the 5th floor of the Neurochemistry center, consists of 5 housing rooms equipped with ventilated racks for housing natural or genetically modified mouse strains, as well as a room for breeding genetically modified or non-modified rats, and a quarantine area. The total housing capacity is 6000 mice and 700 rats. It is a protected area with restricted access to maintain the animals’ health status.

An experimentation room (meeting the required standards for working with pathogens or animals of class 2) is accessible within the transgenic zone for conducting protocols on animals housed in this area.

Animal models

  • C57BL/6J, OF1 mouse
  • Natural or genetically modified mutant mice
rat
  • Wistar rats
  • Genetically modified rats

Prestations

Production and housing of rats and mice according to needs (production of cohorts of defined age and sex, timed matings for production of pregnant females).

Tattoo identification of all genetically modified animals.

Customized protocols for administration of pharmacological substances, clinical monitoring, or sampling on animals housed in the transgenic zone.

Training for interns, students, and collaborators.

Responsables :

Sophie Reibel Foisset

Équipements :

In addition to the specific equipment for a protected animal facility, the experimentation room is equipped with:

  • A gas anesthesia station,
  • A class 2 microbiological safety cabinet,
  • A CO2 euthanasia station,
  • A binocular loupe,
  • A motorized stereotaxic frame.

Access Conditions :

Mandatory reservation of the experimentation room in the Transgenic Zone (reservation website).

Mandatory orientation visit with the responsible individual resulting in access authorization (badge activation) and work authorization (description of procedures and safety instructions) – Transgenic Zone Welcome Guide.

Submission of the filled protocol file (Transgenic Zone Protocol) at least 48 hours before the start of any experimental protocol, to the following address :
